Here's a handy guide to help understand the size information provided on product pages. These skirts are meant to be worn, tied around the small of your waist. The skirts will naturally overlap, and I design them all so that the right side overlaps the left. On some people, the ties may wrap around only to the back, where you can tie a bow, but you can also tie the bow in the front.
For reference, the smaller size available on the site fits a 26" waist well; so at 36", there's 9" of overlap. This is a good guide if requesting a custom size. Add 10" to any waist dimension, and then measure down to just below your butt. A shorter style, just below the butt creates a simple "professional" look, and the longer length creates more of a dreamy, sweetheart look.
